Lessons on improving opportunities for physical activity in the built environment
By working together, public health and urban planning / transportation professionals can create stronger, healthier communities in Illinois. This webinar provides key recommendations for practitioners to collaborate on the development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives to improve opportunities for physical activity in the built environment. Presenters will provide real-life examples, lessons learned and best practices gleaned from initiatives currently being implemented across Illinois.

ON TO 2050 Symposium
Learn how CMAP's ON TO 2050 Plan can make a difference in your community
Attend an all-day symposium with your peers to learn from communities like yours who have had success making and implementing local plans. In addition to learning about potential technical assistance opportunities, attendees will have the chance to discuss best practices with past award recipients and get one-on-one input on the application process for the 2019 joint call for projects for the CMAP Local Technical Assistance (LTA) and Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Community Planning programs.

Registration costs $30 and includes lunch. The day will also include a "Planning with your neighbors" facilitated networking session to encourage multijurisdictional planning, a resource fair with educational and technical assistance opportunities from our partners, and a lunchtime conversation hosted by CMAP Executive Director Erin Aleman. Need-based waivers or discounts will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

St. Charles Recycling Event
Kane County to host recycling event for electronics,
document shredding, and other materials
A Kane County Recycles Event will be held this Saturday 9/14/19, between 8am and 12noon, at 540 S. Randall in St. Charles. We will be accepting electronics, books and paint for recycling, and documents for shredding. 

ELECTRONICS like computers, keyboards, laptops, printers, televisions (any size, type or age), stereos, cell phones, microwaves, Christmas lights, can be recycled here. A complete list of accepted items, and more information can be found on the Kane County Recycles webpage. Note that TVs and Monitors have a cost to recycle. See below. We unload for you!

BOOKS of any age and condition for reuse or recycling.

PAINT (liquid latex paint) will be recycled at this event. Paint has a recycling fee per container, payable by the resident with cash or check; see below for costs. More details and costs for recycling oil paint at the event can be found here.

DOCUMENTS of a confidential nature may be shredded for free onsite. Limit is approximately 4 boxes, because this free service is for residents only. No documents from businesses please. More guidelines can be found here.

Costs
·    TVs and Computer Monitors have a recycling fee paid directly to the non-profit recycler ($25 for screens under 21" - measured diagonally across the screen, or $35 for screens 21" and over), payable by the resident with cash or card.
·    Paint has a recycling fee per container, payable by the resident with cash or check. Liquid LATEX paint is $2/quart can, $3.50/gallon can, and $10/ 5-gallon bucket.
·    All else is free to drop-off.

Export Grants Application
Matching grant opportunity for Kane County exporters
In May 2015, Chicago Regional Growth Corporation Exports Initiative (Formerly known as Metro Chicago Exports) announced the launch of a Grant Program to help small and mid-sized businesses grow in international trade, specifically through exports. The Chicago Regional Growth Corporation Exports Grant Program, presented by JP Morgan Chase & Co., awards grants up to $5,000 to businesses throughout Northeastern Illinois. This innovative and successful grant program has been renewed for 2019.
 
The Kane County Exports Grant Program provides an additional incentive for Kane County companies to start or increase exporting. Companies located in Kane County which apply for, and are awarded, a grant from Chicago Regional Growth Corporation Exports Program, would be eligible for up to an additional $5,000 from Kane County to reimburse 50% of eligible expenses associated with implementing an export plan.

Companies located in Kane County which are awarded a grant from Chicago Regional Growth Corporation Exports Program.
 
WHAT GRANTS COVER
Grant awards up to an additional $5,000 to reimburse 50% of eligible expenses to support the company's next steps to going global. Grant awards may also cover a Kane County company's participation in the ExporTech© program.
